I hope you had a good Memorial Weekend. Saturday, we went to the Chuck Wagon Gathering which is held each year. If you are not familiar with this, it is held outside and all “booths” are actual covered wagons like you see in the old westerns on TV. They had the “chuck wagon” on the back where the cooks prepared the food. Everything was cooked in heavy cast iron skillets/kettles over a campfire. The lids were also covered in hot coals for even cooking. We had some wonderful stew, cornbread and beans, rice, biscuits, peach cobbler, and “cowboy coffee”. Rides were available in a stage coach and also a covered wagon. Other entertainment included a blacksmith making rings, live bands, story telling of how things “used to be in the good ole days” and many other forms of entertainment. Sunday, we were able to go to my home town. Okay back to the modern world of the Internet and modern appliances. LOL
